We have great news! The Catfish Row Museum is grateful to receive a grant from the United States Institute of Museum and Library Services.

The grant provides a valuable opportunity to expand our partnership with Mississippi Main Street and the Mississippi Humanities Council for our upcoming Smithsonian Voices and Votes: Democracy in America exhibit. At the same time, we are providing residents with opportunities to share their stories and contribute to the documentation of the civil rights movement in Vicksburg.

“We are very pleased the Catfish Row Museum was selected to receive the 2022 IMLS African American History and Culture grant,” said Linda Fondren, Executive Director of the Catfish Row Museum. “We can bring people from different communities together, offering a safe space to provide accurate voting information and share stories of concern and hope,” Fondren added.
